May Day is an international holiday of working people. In 1886 in the month of May, the workers in the American city of Chicago who are groaning  underthee pangs of exploitation, raised slogans for their recognition as human being.This movement  demanded time limit for work and other basic facilities of the workers,  that they could live as human being.This was no doubt a moral blow to the wealthy the class. The then capitalist Government and its 18th adopted every possible way to supperss is the voice of the workers. The  leaders of  the workers where hanged. But the undaunted  workers came out successful by sacrificing their lives.The  demand for eight hours working time instead of twelve or thirteen hours was accepted and they were provided with some amenities of life.May Day has been a symbol for the workers all over the world.May Day is a spirit of international Brotherhood and Unity of the workers.On May Day, all workers should be united to March on the path of progress and happiness  that day the owner of the workplaces should evaluate  their Nations towards workers for  ensuring a peaceful world.

মে দিবস

বাংলা অনুবাদঃ মে দিবস কর্মজীবী মানুষের একটি আন্তর্জাতিক ছুটির দিন। হাজার 986 সালের মে মাসে আমেরিকার শিকাগো শহরের শ্রমিকরা যারা নির্যাতনের যন্ত্রণায় গুমরে  মরছিল তারা তাদের মানুষ হিসেবে স্বীকৃতির জন্য স্লোগান তোলে। এই আন্দোলনে শ্রমিকদের কাজের নিদৃষ্ট সময় ও অন্যান্য মৌলিক প্রয়োজনের দাবি তোলে যাতে তারা মানুষ হিসেবে বেঁচে থাকতে পারে। এটা নিঃসন্দেহে ধনী শ্রেণির জন্য  একটি নৈতিক আঘাত ছিল। তৎকালীন বুর্জোয়া সরকার ও এর এজেন্টরা শ্রমিকদের কণ্ঠরোধ করার সম্ভাব্য সব পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করেন। শ্রমিক নেতাদের ফাঁসিতে ঝুলানো হয়। কিন্তু শ্রমিকরা তাদের জীবন উৎসর্গ করেও সফলতা লাভ করেন।  12 বা 13 ঘণ্টার পরিবর্তে ৮ ঘণ্টা কাজের দাবি গৃহীত হয় এবং জীবন ধারণের প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসের ব্যবস্থাও তাদের করা হয়। মে দিবস সারা দুনিয়ার শ্রমিকদের জন্য একটি আন্তর্জাতিক ভ্রাতৃত্ব ও সংহতির দিন। মে দিবসে সব শ্রমিককে প্রগতি ও সুখের পথে অগ্রসর হওয়ার জন্য একত্রিত হওয়া উচিত। এই দিনে  শান্তিময় পৃথিবী নিশ্চিন্ত করার জন্য সব কর্মক্ষেত্রের মালিকদের তাদের শ্রমিকদের প্রতি দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি মূল্যায়ন করা উচিত।

International May Day

Labour Day or May Day honours the hard work of people across the world and celebrates their achievements. Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement in the United States in the 19th Century. In the United States and Canada, Labour Day is however celebrated on the first Monday in September, honouring workers and their contribution to society.In 1889, a body of socialist groups and trade unions, in the US designated May 1 as a day for workers. This was in rememberance of the Haymarket Riots in Chicago in 1886, when a labour protest rally turned violent after someone threw a bomb at the police. According to the history.com, ''...at least eight people died as a result of the violence that day. Despite a lack of evidence against them, eight radical labour activists were convicted.''

May 1 in Europe, has historically always been linked with rural traditional farmers' festivals but later on May Day became associated with the modern labour movement
